Description
The Air Jordan 4 was the second chapter in what would be a long novel of one-of-a-kind creations from Tinker Hatfield engineered for no one other than Michael Jordan. The AJ4 would headline the 1988-1989 season in which Jordan and the Chicago Bulls were just one series win short of reaching their first NBA Finals appearance with his Airness at the helm. As the history books show, he’d get a few times.
The faithful recreation will feature a premium leather base upper accented by black under the netting, red/black TPU and bright red sockliner. Branding as previously mentioned will come in the form of Jumpman tongue tags, “Nike Air” on the heel tab, flipped “Air Jordan” back tongue tags and printed insoles. Elevating the shoe is a white/red/black Air-assisted midsole paired with a grey rubber outsole.
While the “Bred” and “White Cement” colorways are the most recognized iterations of the pair, the Air Jordan 4 “Fire Red” was a member of the original colorway set that helped elevate the silhouette to a new echelon.
Serving as the third time the 1989 OG will be re-released, what makes the upcoming release special is that the 2020 iteration will finally feature “Nike Air” at the heel.
Are Air Jordan 4 Good For Basketball?
While one could play basketball in an Air Jordan retro, it is not advisable given the more technically advanced modern basketball sneakers available. Today’s tech surpasses that of the 80s and 90s by leaps and bounds with respect to on-court performance.
Pros
- Sickest looking AJ so far
