Description
Continuing to celebrate hip-hop’s profound influence on basketball culture, Kevin Durant’s Nike KD 17 gears up to honor another music industry titan. Following the success of the 2022 “Producer Pack,” which spotlighted the creative minds of Boi-1da, Cardo, and 9th Wonder, the KD 17 sets its sights on the legendary producer Bink!, renowned for his pivotal contributions to Roc-A-Fella Records and his iconic work on Jay-Z’s “The Blueprint.”
The KD 17 “Bink!” edition is a masterful blend of aesthetics and homage, featuring an earth-toned colorway that intertwines shades of brown, tan, and orange. This sneaker isn’t just a nod to Bink!’s sonic achievements; it’s a canvas that tells the story of his impact on the music and basketball worlds. Bink!’s signature is elegantly stitched in white beneath the Swoosh, a personal touch that signifies Durant’s deep respect for the producer’s craft.
Further enriching the narrative, the heel of the shoe is adorned with a stitched design that symbolizes “Bink!” with hands, a visual representation of the producer’s hands-on influence in shaping the soundtracks of many lives. The design is grounded by a semi-opaque gum outsole, which reveals the word “HUMBLE” in collegiate lettering—a reminder of the humility and hard work behind success.
Stay tuned for more information on the release of this special edition KD 17, and in the meantime, you can catch a first retailer look at the design below.
About Nike KD 17?
The Nike KD 17 is Kevin Durant’s seventeenth signature shoe with Nike. A first look at the shoes was revealed in February 2024; And Durant debuted his newest signature kicks during Game 1 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs Saturday at the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The KD 17 design is heavily inspired by the Air Max Plus. It features a lower-cut design — a requirement by Durant himself — and no strap.
Beyond its compelling design, the KD 17 doesn’t fall short on technical prowess. The sneaker is reported to feature state-of-the-art elements such as forefoot Zoom cushioning and a robust TPU shank integrated into a Cushlon midsole. These features, coupled with a cutting-edge generative rubber outsole, signify Nike’s commitment to merging comfort with high performance, mirroring Durant’s presence on the hardwood.
Ironically, the colorway resembles the colors of the OKC Thunder. Durant famously left Oklahoma City as a free agent, signing with nemesis Golden State in what may be one of the most notorious off-season player moves in NBA history. OKC still hasn’t forgiven KD for his decision as he is often rained with boos when he plays against his former team.
