Description
Mirroring the AF1’s Barely Grey, Moon Particle, and Pale Ivory palette, the Nike Book 1 proudly showcases Booker’s Moss Point roots.
The color scheme is inspired by the corner store that Book used to frequent when he attended school. The shoe takes on a similar hue to the Devin Booker x Nike Air Force 1 Low “Moss Point,” which was originally released in 2019.
Just like its AF1 counterpart, the upper sports a smooth light blue leather with greyscale accents coating the suede quarter, The shades have a pearl finish on the sole. On the metallic heel, embroidered messages read, “Yes Ma’am ” and “No Sir,” referencing Book’s Souther roots. Inner heel tabs bear Booker’s birth year, “96,” while the cleverly placed “Chapter One” text on the heels symbolizes the initial chapter in Booker’s signature shoe journey with Nike Basketball.
The Devin Booker x Nike Book 1 “Moss Point” sneakers represent a unique fusion of Booker’s personal journey and Nike’s innovative design ethos.
About Devin Booker and Nike Book 1
The Nike Book 1 features elements that help with lateral stability, cushioning and underfoot responsiveness, the same release said. Under the hood of the shoe, as it were, Nike design teams layered Cushlon 2.0 foam within the midsole and “a rigid TPU sidewall for added support, with a top-loaded Nike Zoom airbag in the heel”, the release said.
Just like his beloved Chevy, the outside of the shoe is all about the aesthetics coupled with purpose. For example, work-wear canvas and twill on the upper provide further durability. Meanwhile, a suede collar and leather across the forefoot contribute to a plush and broken-in feel.
