‘I JUST DIDN’T QUIT’ refers to Tatum’s tattoo on the left leg, it’s also Tatum’s motto.
‘LIVING PROOF’ on behalf of his mentor and friend Bradley Beal, who guided Jayson Tatum on the road to basketball and proved everything with his actions.
‘38.6270°N, 90.1994°W’ is the coordinate of ST. LOUIS where Jayson Tatum grew up.
‘Archer AV’ represents Archer Avenue where is the hometown street of Tatum.
As signature shoes, it’s not a good things to keep conservation. The outboard of TATUM 1 has hollow-out design, which not only breaks through the frame and actually reduces the weight of the shoes. The TATUM 1 is officially the lightest Jordan brand signature shoes.
Comfort Level & Cushion Performance:
Initially I can’t get used to it when trying the shoes on the store, the heel and forefoot have big contrast. The forefoot sole is soft and the heel sole is stiff. And the space of forefoot sole is big. But after playing basketball on indoor court, the comfort level is improved.
The feedback of ZOOM AIR cushion on forefoot sole is excellent. The resilience is great. After testing a few times, the feet can break-in the shoes well.
In addition, the mesh knitted vamp of TATUM 1 is not thinner than Air Jordan XXXVII. The fitness is good, and it can keep the lightweight and good air permeability. The mesh shoe tongue also has many ventilated holes to keep the air flowing.
Supporting Performance:
TATUM 1 is middle version. So it must fasten all of the shoelaces’ holes. After fastening the shoelaces, the ankle and heelpiece can be fixed well. The foam thickness of shoe collar and shoe tongue is thick. So the ankle and instep can be covered well.
The attractive outboard TPU plate is the main support of the shoe body. It extends from half sole to the bottom of mid-sole. It’s light and strong. It can offer good support when moving. The inner side of shoe body doesn’t have extra reinforcement, which is to keep the flexibility.
The forefoot sole is a little long, so the space is a little big. It needs to wear thick socks. I don’t plan to choose half size smaller, as other space of the shoes is not too wide. It’s acceptable. You can have a try on the physical store.
Durability:
TATUM 1 use foam to cover the bottom of shoes. It only retain the forefoot sole area with rubber outsole to enhance the traction performance. With hollow-out insole, it saves some rubber material and reduce the weight. And it uses foam as outsole which is soft.
It makes adjustment according the forefoot sole. The main reason is that it matches Tatum’s playing style, which involves a lot of forefoot movement.
Although it has many advantages, but it satisfy the durability. About 75% of insole are used as outsole, if it’s used for long-time playing, the loss speed will be fast. So I think it’s better to play TATUM 1 on indoor court.
Overall, the comfort level and support of TATUM 1 is great. WhyNot series shoes are the first choice of cost-effective, will the birth of TATUM series shoes replace it? Colorways will be another key to success. The price of TATUM 1 is not high, it’s worthy to have a try.
