This offering of the Nike Air Max 97 features a White corduroy-like base with leather overlays and contrasting accents.

The various leather overlays come together uniformly, from a light tan at the bottom, to yellow, and lime green on top. The last getting more time in the sun sitting along the tongue fastener while framing the embroidery of a trio of hearts and the Swoosh lining at the tip. The motif making an appearance on the insoles as well.

The above-mentioned trifecta of colors move towards the heel adorned with a heel tab that reads, “FEEL LOVE”. Peach hues fill the signature full-length Air bubble unit, supporting the white midsoles, with the reflective 3M strip still a mainstay.

    About Nike Air Max 97

The Air Max 97 was first released in 1997 as a running shoe. Designed by Christian Tresser, its look was said to be inspired by high-speed Japanese bullet trains and alternatively the titanium metal frames on mountain bikes,

Taken for granted now, but a new technology at the time, the hidden lacing system on the Air Max 97 was a first. Compared to the Scotchlite dazzle of that 360-degrees of reflectivity and the silver shine on those synthetic panels, this concealed element of Christian Tresser’s design is easy to ignore, but it was an important detail.

The shoe comes constructed in a mix of mesh, leather, and suede, Soft greys and off-whites dominate the model for a sleek, neutral look.

The lower half of the signature wavy overlays and details on the tongue ditch the usual mesh build for suede.

To mark its placement within the “First Use” collection, the pack’s distinguishing “First Use June 18, 1971” text is subtly applied to the gap between the overlays and the midsole on the medial side.

As for the lateral side, a black Swoosh with a red outline is used instead. Red further tints the textile makeup under the tongue, details on the heel tab loop, and parts of the outsole to add some brightness to the minimalist look.

An off-white full-length Air unit and a gold Swoosh lace dubrae round out the celebratory style.

In honor of Air Max Day on March 26th, Nike has been unveiling some colorful Air Max’s with the “Have A Nike Day” name attached.

Of course, that particular slogan harkens back to an old commercial from the Beaverton brand, that celebrates the company’s history. Utilizing a similar design technique mastered on the Undefeated x Air Max 97.

While the brand has opted for these colorful Air Max models, it appears as though they are going for some light blue alternatives and that aesthetic is now making its way to the Air Max 97.

The sneaker is wrapped in a tonal blue upper, constructed from mesh, nubuck and canvas in different shades of blue ranging from light to dark. One of the shades is a darker blue while the other one is more of a cloudy blue. These shades alternate throughout the upper. There is also a stripe of white throughout the shoe with “Have A Nike Day” branding written multiple times. The sneaker is then finished with white embroidered Swoosh branding, a full-length white midsole, a blue air unit and a Swoosh-adorned smiley face on the lacing unit.

Virgil Abloh and his Off-White™ brainchild are releasing a new iteration of the Nike Air Max 97. After a collection dedicated to tennis superstar Serena Williams, Abloh once again places his focus on the classic AM97 silhouette.

This Nike Air Max 97 features a Grey-based upper with a rainbow gradient Nike Swoosh. In terms of branding, signature Off-White™ insignias can be found inside the shoe while Abloh’s Helvetica font is featured on the medial sides and on the shoelaces.

The asymmetrical tongue patch from the original 2017 release returns, as does the infamous zip tie that adorns all of the designer’s Nike footwear.

Finally The shoe is then completed by a simple grey midsole/Air Max unit, translucent outsole, and an extra pair of teal laces if the wearer desires extra contrast.

    Nike and Off-White: ‘The Ten’

The ten Nike shoes were deconstructed and redesigned by Virgil Abloh throughout early 2017. The collaboration between the two brands was officially confirmed in late August, however Abloh had been working on the designs since much earlier in the year and teased them throughout. The design process involved Abloh taking each individual shoe, breaking it down with an X-ACTO knife, removing and altering key elements of the shoe. He maintained the foundational silhouette of each shoe, but added small fabrics and panels and relocated parts. Abloh concentrated his design towards editing the stitching and tongues of each of the shoes.

Abloh designed each shoe to have a print on the inside of each shoe, reflecting the creative process and location of creation. It was titled “Off-White for Nike” then a line which included the name of the shoe that had been remodelled and then two lines saying “Beaverton, Oregon USA” and “C. 2017”. Beaverton, Oregon, being the location at which these shoes were designed. Abloh also added the name of the main material of the specific shoe to the midsole in bold black quotation marks, a signature trait of Off-White and Abloh. These examples include ‘AIR’ and ‘FOAM’.

A key part of the creation process was adding the signature Off-White zip-tie that is attached to Off-White products. All the shoes in this collaboration featured the red zip-tie that features the date, name of collaboration and ‘zip-tie’ in bold white letters. More Link To: WIKI OFF WHITE.

Christian Tresser’s Air Max 97 first introduced itself to the world back in 1997, and since then, it’s held up its status as a staple silhouette for the Nike Sportswear category.

The iconic style is reinvented with an artful blend of high-end materials. The Nike design teams opted to treat the mudguards with a chocolate-y brown luscious suede fabric, Nubuck leather and hemp canvas also make appearances on the upper of this Japanese bullet train-influenced model, both of which are covered in a “Muslin” hue.

Apparently, the tongue area is fashioned with the off-white hemp canvas materials. These tongue flaps are embellished with swoosh branding tags made with cream white hues and a small brown pull tab attached to the lining. The center white uppers are then surrounded by brown suede mudguards in the form of characteristic foliated designs of Air Max 97 silhouette.

Further, hits of Pink Foam are present across the whole of the design to further elevate the esthetics and add more energy to the shoes. On the rear, the heel counters are complete with the typical Air Max branding tags. These tags are also embellised with a brown finish.

The next chapter in Off-White and Nike‘s partnership has been revealed. We were first introduced to the deconstructed theme via THE TEN’s release back in 2017 which was followed up by a launch commemorating Serena Williams back in August.

A rework of the iconic Air Max 97 model that was revived last year, the Off-White x Nike Air Max 97 Black is dipped in an all black hue throughout.

Surfaced with white contrasting hits of its Swoosh logo, “AIR” stamp on the lateral side and Off-White industrial branding on its medial paneling. Each tongue tab also shifts to the outer sides with the insoles embracing the signature Off-White™’ diagonal logo.

Down below, an Air-infused midsole is present for additional comfort and a smoother stride, and to round things off, “AIR” branding completes the deconstructed aesthetic that we all know and love.

The Nike Air Max 97 Certified Fresh Pastel Gum features a fun and bright colourway that’s still easy to wear with a plethora of outfits.

This Nike Air Max 97 gets dressed in airy pastels that features shades of light blue and “Enamel Green.” The primary mudguard has a tonal silver finish that fades into layers of white and “Coconut Milk”.

Even the classic Nike Air Max 97 laces and embroidered Nike Swoosh are dressed in a whimsical shade of muted green. Bringing balance to this soft palette is a neutral grey leather mudguard.

additional details including “Certified Fresh” branding behind the tongue tags and insoles, while lastly puffy white pom-pom laces help to round things off for this slightly dramatic sneaker offering.
