Nike KD 3 Retro “All-Star” Bringing back a classic, the Nike KD 3 “All-Star”was first released in February 2011. The 2023 return will be the sneaker’s first ever retro release. This All-Star colorway of Kevin Durant’s KD 3 was worn by Durant during the 2011 NBA All-Star Game. It’s Challenge Red, White, and Black color scheme. Marking KD’s second appearance and first as a starter, the 2011 All-Star Game was one to remember as it truly marked Durant’s arrival among the game’s elite. Not a season later, Durant would appear in his first-ever NBA Finals, and a league MVP award would follow not long after. The Nike KD 3 featured Zoom Air at the fore-foot and a low/mid cut — a preference of Durant himself. This All-Star version was the last of the traditional conference red and blue as Nike explored more colorway concepts from 2012 and beyond, spawning the Galaxy “Big Bang”Pack and much more.

While the KD 3 had some memorable releases, it’s not considered among the more memorable signature models such as the KD 4, 5, and 6. A release date for the KD 3 Retro “All-Star” hasn’t been confirmed yet, but we expect a drop sometime in February 2023. KD 3 retro is designed by Leo Chang, who is design director for Nike basketball shoes.

The shoe arrives in a mixture of materials including synthetic leather, mesh and Flywire technology. The red synthetic cover covers most of the upper, while white highlights the Swoosh and black detailing accented the midsole.

To match up with the Slim Reaper’s Western Conference All-Star threads, the Swoosh team dyed the glossy leather overlays, Flywire forefoot panels, mesh tongues and heels in a lush red hue. Subtle notes of contrast as the Swoosh logo appears in white with black borders while the film features black and red gradience. Tongues arrive with hole-punched builds while the shoe heel is decorated with “KD35”buttons that are shaped in video game controller-like form to nod to Durant’s at-the-time jersey number. The shoelaces has a piece of sheet metal which shows ‘2011’.

The sole is red translucent. The forefoot insole uses Zoom air cushion. The outsole uses water ripple thread, which can offer good traction. It also has a deep groove from middle position to heelpiece, which can reduce the weight.

The KD 3 Retro was expected to be exactly the same as the 2011 release, so it has received extremely high attention since its release. We will test it and offer you the performance review about KD 3 Retro soon.
