The Air Jordan 1 set the tone for Jordan’s future, and his eponymous brand, transcending the court and finding favor across a broad spectrum of society

Tied to a not-so-accurate story of being banned by the NBA in 1985, The sneaker features the original Chicago Bulls-inspired colorway that was banned from the NBA and is done in black, varsity red and white.

Much like their “big brother” silhouette, the “Banned” supplies a supple leather upper with a black base plus rich red toeboxes, Swooshes, heel overlays and collar hits. However, there’s one noticeable difference in the colorblocking: the middle eyestays are dressed in red instead of black.

Some of the notable features to this release includes ‘Nike Air’ branding on the tongue and will not include the ‘X’ detailing on the heel that was seen on the original “Banned” release from 2011.

Product history. The first Air Jordan was produced for use by Michael Jordan. They were designed by Peter B. Moore, and released during Jordan’s sophomore season with the Chicago Bulls. The Jordan 1 Royal was never worn by Michael Jordan on an NBA court.
