As the Air Jordan 1 heads into its 37th anniversary, the silhouette has continued looking into #23\u2019s legacy for inspiration. For its \u201cRebellionaire\u201d proposition, Peter Moore\u2019s iconic design remembers a Nike commercial from 1985.<\/p>\n
Inspired by the AJ1 \u201cBanned\u201d saga, more specifically the original \u201cBanned\u201d commercial, the shoe also builds on the classic \u201cShadow\u201d colorway. Rebellious in nature, the Swoosh encouraged #23 to continue wearing the shoes in-game, and even addressed the controversy in a commercial that ended with the following message: \u201cFortunately, the NBA can\u2019t stop you from wearing them.\u201d<\/p>\n
the upcoming retro cheekily nods to Michael Jordan\u2019s now-billionaire status. The sneaker\u2019s muted color-blocking is accompanied by the phrase \u201cThey Can\u2019t Stop You From Wearing Them\u201d done in handwritten fashion. The all-over pattern appears most prominently around the heel and at the toe box, as these panels indulge in a light grey tone; writing elsewhere boasts a barely-discernible iteration of the message. the shoe in two different font sizes alongside midfoot Swooshes, NIKE AIR tongue tags, Wings motifs at the ankle, printed insoles and bright red \u201cX.\u201d Elevating the shoe are pure white midsoles and gray rubber outsoles.<\/p>\n
Product history. The first Air Jordan was produced for use by\u00a0Michael Jordan<\/b>. They were designed by Peter B. Moore, and released during Jordan’s sophomore season with the Chicago Bulls. The Jordan 1 Royal was never worn by Michael Jordan on an NBA court.<\/p>\n
